AN EXCITING NEW SPORT IN KENYA !
Despite some African countries actively participating in armwrestling for over the past 10 years, it is only recently that Kenya has managed to form a structured, legal framework (federation) to officially develop this dynamic and explosive sport and take it's athletes to join the international stage.
Its a perfect time to participate, as armwrestling is experiencing very fast growth globally, and is also on track to becoming an Olympic sport
INTERNATIONAL OPPORTUNITY FOR ALL
The opportunities to compete in international armwrestling events include the annual AFA Africa Championships, the All-Africa Games and even the WAF World Armwrestling Championships. Categories include male, female, para, youth and junior, making armwrestling a fully inclusive sport accessible to all who wish to try.

All sports naturally carry some risk of injury. In armwrestling it is important to start slowly and correctly, developing the strength of the arm muscles, ligaments and tendons over time, using a planned, progressive training plan.
There are specific exercises for this, which we will teach you. If you follow all the safety advice it is very possible to fully enjoy the sport without injuries and become a successful happy armwrestler.
Yes of course ! The sport is becoming very popular with women, who are now competing in the Africa and World championships in very large numbers.
Para-Armwrestling has recently met the worldwide reach requirement for inclusion to the 2032 Paralympic Games in Brisbane Australia, and is represented well in all continental and world championships.
Para-Armwrestling has categories for physically impaired athletes with both upper and lower limb impairments, at both stand-up and sit-down tables, as well as categories for athletes with visual and hearing impairments.
There are official sub-junior (14-15yrs), junior (16-18yrs) and youth (19-23yrs) categories in WAF armwrestling competitions.
KAF will be creating institutional memberships for schools and universities in Kenya so that all these categories can be represented both nationally and internationally.

"Some friends told me that there was an interesting challenge happening at the local mechanics workshop on the weekend. I joined in the challenge and discovered that I really enjoyed the armwrestling, . . . I actually won both my matches and received some prize money too ! I now want to keep practicing this sport as it has given me instant satisfaction and it was really great fun doing it. My hope is to become good enough to get into the Kenya team, I think it's an achievable goal and worth the practice. Wish me luck !"
